Who are you?
My name is John McLemore, but I go by Ray (shortened middle name). At the time of this post, I'm 50 years old and I'm retired from a 25+ year career of software development. I'm a veteran and former firefighter/EMT. I've worked a wide range of jobs before I fell into computer programming. I'm also an author, writing books under the name J.R. McLemore. As I reach this milestone in my life, I've gained a half-century of life experience, AKA wisdom. I've learned that some things I thought I knew about the world or how it worked were wrong; from social classes to how our justice system works when you find yourself caught up in it.
What's your blog about?
I tend to yell at my TV. My wife would say I yell a lot. (Really, I'm venting and commiserating with my wife, but she doesn't see it this way.) My ranting tends to come across as anger from an old man, so in an effort to actually explain in a coherent way why I'm angry, I created this blog. This is my place to vent my frustrations and to defend my views/opinions. I hope to keep my blog posts somewhat clean. Not a vehicle for just obscenities or disparaging remarks. There're enough of those sources out there.
I will call politicians names (sometimes colorfully obscene, depending on my mood) and I will hammer opposing views without apology. This blog is intended as a place for me to rant freely and for others, who wish, to read and agree or vehemently disagree.
Also, this blog is not intended to advance anything I'm against, such as: racism, far-right ideologies, xenophobia, or anything else that belittles or restricts others. You could say I have liberal idea. You'd be correct. Most of my rants will probably be politically motivated, but there will be other topics like bullshit social class shenanigans, asshole drivers, line-breakers, and anything else that gets me worked up.
I welcome feedback, but be warned: if you come on here acting like an ass without lending to the discussion, I'll block you without a second thought. I will keep an open mind. If someone reasonably argues an opposing view, presenting facts that challenge my own stance, I may have a change of heart. It happens! That's the point of civil discussions, which I hope arises out of some of these posts.
Most of all, I want readers to see this as a source of entertainment and a safe place to express their views as well. Who knows? You may read some of my arguments and have a change of opinion, too.
